Marriage and Family relationships can be messy!

You don’t have to look too far to know that marriage and family relationships can be messy. Our own experiences and a look at families in the Bible--Adam, Abraham, David and even Jesus’ family—reveal the confusion and tension that can come when we relate in the context of family.

BAD NEWS #1 we can’t fully avoid the messiness (Jn 16:33)
GOOD NEWS #1 God can and will bring good out of the messes (Rom 8:28-29)

BAD NEWS #2 many of our messes are of our own doing (Jas 4:1-2)
GOOD NEWS #2 God provides forgiveness and a way for reconciliation
(I Jn 1:9, Mt 5:23-24)

BAD NEWS #3 our messes are oftentimes due to a lack of knowledge (Pr 19:2-3)
GOOD NEWS #3 learning and following God’s will for marriage and family will help us clean up some of the messes and avoid making new ones in the future
(Pr 3:5-6, Eph 5:17)

Marriage & Family Ministry offers teaching and resources through media and various environments such as one-to-one, small group and large gatherings with the aim of encouraging singles, couples and families to:

  • grow in relationship with Jesus Christ and demonstrate His love toward others even when it's uncomfortable
  • experience healthy relationships by applying biblical truths
  • be encouraged and hope-filled especially through the difficult times
  • remain thankful to God at each stage of life

Core Biblical Values for the Family:

  • Honor God first. Don’t make the family an end in and of itself (Col 1:18)
  • Reflect the nature and character of Jesus Christ in relationships (Eph 5:1; Col 2:6-7).
  • Practice God’s design for Marriage (Gen 2:23-24; Eph 5:21-33; 1 Pet 3:1-7)
  • Practice purity in singleness (1 Th 4:3-4)
  • Nurture the children God gives as gifts (Ps 127:3; Eph 6:4)
  • Show lifelong care for family members (Eph 6:1-2)
  • Be connected to and serve in the church (Heb 10:24-25)
